I'm not sure whether you'd class me as an inspiration to anyone who wants to follow a dream, no matter how old you are (I only started writing in 2007, aged 45 and have had over 70 songs published, or a mad fool to be trying to make it in such a competitive and dwindling market as a non performing songwriter( That's not to say I dont, but I prefer to work on writing than performing). So whether I'm an inspiration or a clown to you, I can assure you It's as much a surprise to me that I'm writing songs at all, not alone had so much relative success. I do seem to have unearthed a talent for relating to people's emotions.
After messing about trying to write something to cheer a friend up one day, with no clue what I was doing, I seem to have unearthed a talent I didnt know I had, and now I'm carried away on this peculiar journey, which has taken me to Nashville and LA to learn how to craft songs properly, to being mentored by some of the best in the business, to becoming frustrated at having to give away shares in my songs or spending $$$$$'s to get them demo'd, to finally finding my Mecca in Music Production, which I absolutely love with a passion.
In these few short years, I've discovered the experimental and creative nature of songwriting, production and playing with sound, is just the most liberating daily epiphany I could have ever wished for in my life.
I feel really blessed to have found an outlet for my thoughts and ideas, no matter how old I am.
I've now written over 400 songs, Including collaborations with double Grammy Winner Dillon Dixon, Emmy Winner Suzanne Edwards, Critics choice Unsigned act of the year Eddy Smith "(You're not here with me" remix,) Twice Busker of the year Natalie Shay, ("It's Christmas" )Top Swedish artist/writers Janouselk,( several titles) Simon Erics,(" Heard it all before" )and other breaking artists including Norma Jean Martine ("Take it Slow"). Other credits include NSAI top 40 songs of the year 2013 "You come to the Rescue"( Turner/Dixon & Tin Pan Alley songwriter of the year finalists 2016 for "End of The World" ( Turner/Smiley)
Though I have had some modest commercial success, like most writers that start out on this mad experience, I remain hopeful that one day, one of my songs will hit the big time ; who knows?
All I can do is keep writing and see where it takes me.
